Securing a Strong Retirement Act of 2022 This bill makes various changes with respect to employer-sponsored retirement plans, including providing for the automatic enrollment of employees in certain plans and increasing the age at which participants are required to begin receiving mandatory distributions.
Emmett Till Antilynching Act This bill makes lynching a federal hate crime offense. Specifically, the bill imposes criminal penalties—a fine, a prison term of up to 30 years, or both—on an individual who conspires to commit a hate crime offense that results in death or serious bodily injury or that includes kidnapping or an attempt to kidnap, aggravated sexual abuse or an attempt to commit aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to kill.
American Students Abroad Act This bill directs the Department of State to periodically share with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) U.S. embassy and consulate reports relating to a death of a U.S. citizen aboard. The CDC must expand programs and activities related to the surveillance of deaths of U.S. citizens abroad.
Ravi Thackurdeen Safe Students Study Abroad Act This bill (1) applies campus-security reporting requirements to study-abroad programs of institutions of higher education that participate in federal student-aid programs, and (2) requires such institutions to implement specified policies to protect students participating in study-abroad programs.
Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair Act of 2022 or the CROWN Act of 2022 This bill prohibits discrimination based on a person's hair texture or hairstyle if that style or texture is commonly associated with a particular race or national origin. Specifically, the bill prohibits this type of discrimination against those participating in federally assisted programs, housing programs, public accommodations, and employment. Persons shall not be deprived of equal rights under the law and shall not be subjected to prohibited practices based on their hair texture or style. The bill provides for enforcement procedures under the applicable laws.
Forced Arbitration Injustice Repeal Act of 2022 or the FAIR Act of 2022 This bill prohibits a predispute arbitration agreement from being valid or enforceable if it requires arbitration of an employment, consumer, antitrust, or civil rights dispute.
This resolution condemns the violence and killing of 14 individuals on Bloody Sunday 50 years ago in Northern Ireland and supports justice for the victims and their families. The resolution urges the full implementation of the Good Friday Agreement to ensure peace and stability in Ireland. The resolution recognizes the findings of the Bloody Sunday Inquiry, also known as the Saville Inquiry, and calls upon the United Kingdom to support the prosecutions of individuals who committed unjustifiable crimes on Bloody Sunday based on the evidence collected. Finally, this resolution urges the European Union, including the Republic of Ireland, and the United Kingdom to act in good faith with regard to negotiations around Brexit and implementation of the Northern Ireland Protocol.
Stop Profiting Off Putin's War Act This bill imposes a 50% excise tax through 2023 on the adjusted taxable income of certain major integrated oil companies during calendar quarters when the national average price of unleaded gasoline is equal to or greater than the national average price of unleaded gasoline on February 24, 2022, the day of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The rate of such tax is increased to 75% for companies that raise prices in response to this new tax. The bill requires tax revenues to be paid as rebates to eligible individuals and establishes the Gas Profit Recovery Fund to finance the payment of such rebates.
American Energy for American Consumers Act This bill requires the President to promulgate a rule prohibiting the export of crude oil and finished motor gasoline produced in the United States. The prohibition may not end until the earlier of (1) the date that the President determines the national average price for unleaded gasoline has been, for at least 30 days, at or below the national average price for unleaded gasoline on January 1, 2022; or (2) the date that the President determines is the formal end to the conflict between Russian and Ukraine. The President may exempt from the prohibition exports of crude oil or finished motor gasoline as the President determines to be in the national interest or for national security purposes.
