Stop the Wait Act of 2022 This bill allows individuals with disabilities to begin receiving Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits in the month they become eligible for the benefits. It also allows these individuals to immediately enroll in Medicare if they cannot afford minimum essential coverage. (Under current law, an individual must generally wait 5 months after the onset of disability to begin receiving SSDI benefits and an additional 24 months to become eligible for Medicare.)
Hear our Heroes Act of 2022 This bill provides a presumption of service-connection for hearing-related issues in certain veterans for purposes of wartime disability compensation. Under a presumption of service-connection, specific conditions diagnosed in certain veterans are presumed to have been caused by the circumstances of their military service. Health care benefits and disability compensation may then be awarded. Per the bill, certain veterans with diagnosed hearing loss, tinnitus, or both shall be presumed to have incurred or aggravated such conditions during active military, naval, or air service. This bill applies to veterans who (1) served in combat, or (2) were assigned to a military occupational specialty that likely exposed them to a sufficiently high level of acoustic trauma. The bill also requires the Department of Veterans Affairs to adjust the schedule of rating disabilities to establish a minimum disability rating for a veteran who requires a hearing aid because of a service-connected disability.

This holiday would be observed on the actual date of the Lunar New Year, which varies annually based on the lunar calendar. Maddy summaryThis bill requires the Director of National Intelligence to produce a report analyzing how foreign adversaries use covert actions (like cyber attacks, information campaigns, or proxy forces) to advance interests without triggering military responses - a tactic called "gray zone activity." The report must examine how U.S. actions might escalate or de-escalate these activities, detect them better, and strengthen international norms against them. It also mandates creating a standardized glossary defining terms like "covert operations" and "deniable actions" to improve clarity. The report must be submitted to Congress within one year of enactment and made publicly available in an unclassified version.
