Maddy summaryHRES 1318 is a formal House resolution impeaching Attorney General Merrick Garland, alleging he endangered the justice system by approving a search warrant for former President Donald Trump's home and politicizing the Department of Justice. The resolution claims Garland violated his constitutional oath by targeting Trump, Biden's political rival, and failing to uphold impartial law enforcement. It does not propose new laws but seeks to send articles of impeachment to the Senate for trial. This procedural resolution directly affects Garland's position as Attorney General and would require Senate action for removal from office.
