Maddy summaryThis bill prevents the National Science Foundation from stopping or dismantling the Ocean Observatories Initiative instruments located off the coasts of Oregon, Washington, Alaska, North Carolina, and in the Irminger Sea. It requires the agency to conduct a thorough review of the program with input from scientists and coastal communities before any such actions can occur. Until that review is finished, the bill mandates that the initiative continue operating normally in all areas where instruments were previously removed. The legislation directly affects the federal funding and operational status of this specific scientific research network.

Maddy summaryThe Find Our Families Act of 2026 requires the Department of Homeland Security to create a public online system that allows families to locate individuals detained by Customs and Border Protection or Immigration and Customs Enforcement. This system must provide search results within eight hours of detention, display information in multiple languages, and include specific details such as names, dates of birth, and facility locations, while excluding data for minors. The bill also mandates that families be notified within five hours if a detainee is transferred for medical care and establishes new reporting requirements for CBP arrests, including details on the circumstances of the arrest and the number of agents involved. Additionally, the legislation creates a process for families to report errors in detainee information and imposes penalties on employees or contractors who fail to comply with these data-sharing and reporting obligations.
Maddy summaryThis resolution commemorates the 250th anniversary of the United States by reaffirming the nation's historical commitment to separating church and state. It highlights key constitutional principles, such as the First Amendment and the prohibition of religious tests for public office, which protect individual religious freedom and prevent government endorsement of specific beliefs. The document cites historical figures like Thomas Jefferson and James Madison to underscore the importance of maintaining a secular government that safeguards religious pluralism. Ultimately, the measure serves as a formal statement of values rather than a law that changes existing policies or imposes new requirements.
Maddy summaryThis resolution expresses the House of Representatives' support for the goals of Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness Month, which takes place in June. It aims to raise public awareness about Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia while encouraging individuals to educate themselves and advocate for better research and care services. The document highlights the significant impact of these conditions on millions of Americans and calls for increased support for patients, their families, and caregivers.
Maddy summaryThe LIFT the BAR Act aims to restore access to federal benefits for lawfully present noncitizens by repealing several restrictions imposed by the 1996 welfare reform law and a 2024 reconciliation bill. Specifically, it would allow eligible noncitizens to receive SNAP food assistance, Medicaid, CHIP, and child nutrition programs, while also updating legal terminology to refer to "noncitizens" rather than "aliens" in relevant statutes. The legislation includes provisions to ensure these individuals can qualify for premium tax credits and would require federal agencies to issue implementation guidance within 180 days of enactment.
Maddy summaryThis resolution seeks to impeach Linda M. McMahon, the Secretary of Education, for three specific articles of misconduct: willfully violating federal laws, making false statements to Congress, and breaching the public trust. The bill alleges that McMahon illegally transferred the operations of six essential offices within the Department of Education to other federal agencies without congressional approval, contrary to the Department of Education Organization Act. It also claims she misled the Senate by promising to spend all congressionally appropriated funds while simultaneously canceling hundreds of grants and freezing funding for various educational programs. Additionally, the resolution accuses her of terminating approximately 2,000 employees, which disrupted the department's ability to manage federal funds and deliver services. If the House votes to adopt this resolution, the articles of impeachment would be sent to the Senate for a trial that could result in her removal from office.
Maddy summaryThis bill, known as the Wage Theft Prevention and Wage Recovery Act, aims to combat unpaid wages by strengthening penalties for employers who violate federal labor laws and providing workers with better tools to recover stolen money. It directly affects employees across industries who are currently at risk of not receiving their full compensation for hours worked, tips, or benefits. Key provisions require employers to provide detailed paystubs and final payments within 14 days of termination, increase civil fines for violations, and extend the time limit for workers to file lawsuits from two to four years. Additionally, the legislation creates a new grant program to fund community partnerships between the Department of Labor and local organizations to educate workers, assist with claims, and improve enforcement efforts.
Maddy summaryThe Next Generation Shipping Act establishes a $10 billion funding program over ten years to support the development and deployment of zero-emission vessels and clean alternative fuel technologies. Administered by the Department of Transportation, the program provides grants, low-interest loans, and loan guarantees to eligible entities such as shipowners, manufacturers, and port authorities, while explicitly prohibiting the use of funds for automated vessel systems. To guide these efforts, the bill creates an advisory committee representing diverse stakeholders including labor groups, environmental organizations, and industry leaders to evaluate technologies and identify gaps. Additionally, the legislation mandates that funded projects prioritize workforce training, community benefits, and environmental justice, ensuring that laborers receive prevailing wages and that local communities are engaged throughout the project lifecycle.
Creating Resources for Every American To Experiment with Artificial Intelligence Act of 2025 or the CREATE AI Act of 2025 This bill establishes a national program to provide U.S. researchers, educators, and students with access to artificial intelligence (AI) data, computational resources, educational tools and services, and testbeds. The program, to be known as the National Artificial Intelligence Research Resource (NAIRR), must be established by the National Science Foundation (NSF) to improve U.S. AI research capacity and spur the strategic development of AI capabilities. NAIRR may accept and use donated resources from the private sector and federal agencies. Those eligible to use NAIRR resources are (1) researchers, educators, and students based in the United States and affiliated with a U.S. institution of higher education, nonprofit, executive agency, or other specified entity; and (2) employees of U.S. executive agencies or federally funded research and development centers with a demonstrable mission need. NSF must select a nongovernmental organization to operate NAIRR (i.e., an operating entity ) through a competitive and transparent process. The operating entity must ensure that a significant percentage of the annual allotment of computational resources is provided to projects primarily focused on AI privacy, ethics, safety, security, risk mitigation, or trustworthiness. The operating entity must also establish minimum security requirements for all individuals interacting with NAIRR. The operating entity may establish a fee schedule for access to NAIRR, which must include a free tier of access and must ensure that the primary purpose of NAIRR is to support research.
Maddy summaryThis bill redesignates the existing National Parks and Public Land Legacy Restoration Fund as the America's Legacy Restoration Fund to address deferred maintenance on federal lands. It directs revenue from recreation fees and a portion of energy development income into the fund, which must be used primarily for repairing critical infrastructure like roads, trails, and buildings managed by agencies such as the National Park Service and the Forest Service. The legislation establishes strict rules requiring that most funds go toward non-transportation projects, mandates transparency through public dashboards tracking project status, and sets aside a small percentage for matching private donations. Additionally, the bill increases entrance fees for foreign visitors to ensure they contribute to the fund, while prohibiting the use of these specific funds for land acquisition or employee bonuses.
