Anti-Doxxing Act

Maddy summaryH 4779, the Anti-Doxxing Act, makes it a crime to intentionally publish personal information (like home addresses or children's schools) of public servants - such as police officers, firefighters, or government employees - with the intent to harass, harm, or disrupt their work. If proven, first offenses are misdemeanors (up to 3 years in prison), while repeat offenses become felonies (up to 20 years). The law specifically protects First Amendment political speech and the publication of public officials' contact information for legitimate lobbying purposes. It directly affects individuals who target public servants with doxxing, not general citizens or non-public figures.

Maddy summaryH 4986 is a symbolic House Resolution recognizing natural gas as critical to South Carolina's energy future. It states that natural gas meets growing electricity and heating demands (used in 25% of state power generation and 1 in 4 homes), supports economic development, provides reliability during storms, and helps reduce emissions when replacing coal. The resolution does not create new laws or funding but formally acknowledges the industry's role in keeping energy affordable and dependable for residents and businesses. It was introduced and adopted unanimously on January 20, 2026, as a statement of support for the natural gas sector.
