This resolution creates a 15 member special legislative commission to study and provide recommendations and comments for healthcare liability reform, and who would report back to the House by January 1, 2025, and expire on February 1, 2025.
Allows the executive office of health and human services to use appropriated funds to support graduate medical education programs and research.
Creates "Harter's Law" to extend the civil statute of limitations for injuries resulting from first degree child abuse to thirty-five (35) years.
Makes all sexual abuse or exploitation of a child causes of action not subject to statute of limitations whether lapsed or time-barred.
Increases minimum sentence for first degree sexual assault and provides first 10 years of a sentence for first degree sexual assault not be subject to a suspension or deferment of sentence.
Provides state employee public safety professionals with parity to municipal public safety employees in the state/municipal retirement systems eff. 7/1/24 with 10% contribution.
Allows retired state employees who worked as certified or qualified court interpreter to be employed or re-employed for a limited period of time in a given year to provide court interpretation services within the unified judicial system.
Allows for a one-time two percent (2%) supplemental cost of living adjustment for plan year 2025 to the public pension benefits administered by the ERSRI, and allows for those benefits to be deducted from the taxpayer's adjusted gross income.
