Relating to public exchange stations.

Maddy summaryHB 2855 requires Oregon's Department of State Police to establish public exchange stations for parents or guardians to transfer children and personal property. These stations must be accessible 24/7, monitored by cameras storing video for 30 days (as public records), and clearly signed. The bill prohibits denying public record requests for child exchange videos due to unpaid fees, while allowing standard fees for other requests. It directly affects parents/guardians using these stations and the State Police, which must maintain the equipment and create implementing rules. The policy creates a standardized, transparent process for child exchanges between caregivers.

Primary HB 2643
In committee · Oregon House · Lead sponsor
Relating to combinations of vehicles.

Maddy summaryHB 2643 modifies Oregon's vehicle size laws to allow a motor vehicle towing a standard trailer to also tow a farm trailer (an "implement of husbandry") under specific conditions. This exemption applies to agricultural operations on non-interstate highways, removing size restrictions for farm equipment moved incidentally during farming activities. The bill clarifies that such combinations are exempt from standard length and width limits in Oregon Revised Statutes 818.080 and 818.090, directly affecting farmers transporting equipment for field work. This change streamlines operations for agricultural businesses without requiring additional permits for routine farming movements.
