HB 2395: Relating to security measures required for devices that connect to the Internet.

Requires person that manufactures, sells or offers to sell connected device ] manufacturer to equip connected device with reasonable security features that protect connected device and information that connected device collects, contains, stores or transmits ] stores from access, destruction, modification, use or disclosure that consumer does not authorize. Specifies what may constitute reasonable security features. Specifies exemptions and exclusions from requirement. Punishes violation as unlawful trade practice under Unlawful Trade Practices Act.

HB 2213: Relating to academic textbook affordability.

Requires each community college and public university to ensure that course description for every academic course offered in succeeding academic term lists all textbooks enrolled students are required to purchase. Creates limited exceptions. ] Requires each community college and public university to establish textbook affordability plan. States required elements of plan. Requires at least one student representative to be involved in developing plan.

SB 227: Relating to emergency planning; and declaring an emergency.

Authorizes cemetery authority, or person with authority to determine disposition of human remains, to move, temporarily store or reinter human remains dislodged from original cemetery plot by natural disaster or other similar emergency. Declares emergency, effective on passage.

HB 2514: Relating to privacy.

Provides that person retains privacy and possessory interest in contents of residential garbage receptacle until collection for disposal by sanitation company. Prohibits law enforcement agency from searching or seizing contents without warrant or consent. ] Declares emergency, effective on passage. ] Requires district school board or hearings officer to conduct hearing in executive session or privately if hearing pertains to or involves examination of confidential records of student. Provides for exception when public hearing is requested by student, parent or guardian.

HB 3249: Relating to communications with legal clients.

Provides that client has right to privately communicate with lawyer and representative of lawyer. Provides that evidence derived from privileged confidential communication is inadmissible in certain proceedings if confidential communication was obtained or disclosed without consent of client. Requires local correctional facilities and prisons to maintain one log for lawyers and representatives of lawyers visiting inmates and one log for all other persons visiting inmates. Requires all visitors to sign appropriate log. Provides that, unless exception applies, log for lawyers and representatives of lawyers is confidential, not subject to disclosure as public record and not subject to subpoena. Requires suppression of evidence derived from unlawful disclosure of log for lawyers and representatives of lawyers. ].
