HB 2697: Relating to traffic stops.

HB 2697 repeals Oregon Statute 810.412, which previously limited police officers from initiating traffic stops solely for certain vehicle lighting violations. This change directly affects law enforcement officers, who will no longer be restricted from stopping vehicles based on lighting issues like non-functioning lights. The bill removes a specific legal barrier, allowing officers to proactively stop vehicles during routine traffic enforcement for lighting offenses without needing additional justification. It does not alter other traffic stop requirements or create new penalties.
