Shark Fin Sales Elimination Act of 2021

Shark Fin Sales Elimination Act of 20 21 This bill makes it illegal to possess, buy, sell, or transport shark fins or any product containing shark fins, except for certain dogfish fins. A person may possess a shark fin that was lawfully taken consistent with a license or permit under certain circumstances. Penalties are imposed for violations under the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act.The maximum civil penalty for each violation shall be $100,000, or the fair market value of the shark fins involved, whichever is greater.

Promoting Access to Broadband Act of 2021

Promoting Access to Broadband Act of 2021 This bill requires the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to establish a grant program to provide states with resources to inform their residents who are Medicaid enrollees, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program participants, or low-income individuals about the FCC's Lifeline program. The Lifeline program is designed to reduce the cost of communications services for low-income consumers.

Asuncion Valdivia Heat Illness and Fatality Prevention Act of 2021

Asuncion Valdivia Heat Illness and Fatality Prevention Act of 2021 This bill requires the Department of Labor to promulgate an occupational safety or health standard on prevention of exposure to excessive heat. Excessive heat includes outdoor or indoor exposure to heat at levels that exceed the capacities of the body to maintain normal body functions and may cause heat-related injury, illness, or fatality. In addition, the bill establishes requirements concerning (1) training and education to prevent and respond to heat illness, and (2) whistle-blower protections.

A resolution recognizing the critical importance of access to reliable, clean drinking water for Native Americans and Alaska Natives and confirming the responsibility of the Federal Government to ensure such water access.

This resolution expresses the sense of the Senate that access to reliable and clean drinking water is critically important to the health and welfare of American Indians and Alaska Natives. Further, the resolution calls upon the federal government to provide water access to tribal members and communities.

Korematsu-Takai Civil Liberties Protection Act of 2021

Korematsu-Takai Civil Liberties Protection Act of 2021 This bill modifies the detention authority of the United States. Specifically, it prohibits detention or imprisonment based solely on an actual or perceived protected characteristic of an individual. A protected characteristic includes each of the following: race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, and any additional characteristic that the Department of Justice determines to be a protected characteristic.

Environmental Management Liability Reduction and Technology Development Act of 2021

Environmental Management Liability Reduction and Technology Development Act of 2021 This bill establishes programs and requirements concerning the development and deployment of technology to assist the Office of Environmental Management within the Department of Energy in managing and directing the cleanup of contaminated nuclear weapons manufacturing and testing sites. Specifically, the office must obtain from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers an independent assessment of the lifecycle costs and schedules of the office's cleanup programs. The office must use the assessment to reevaluate the major cleanup challenges faced by the office, make any adjustments to the programs that are necessary to address those challenges, and evaluate potential savings from the development of new technologies over the life of the cleanup programs. In addition, the office must design and implement a science and technology management process for identifying, prioritizing, selecting, developing, and deploying the new knowledge and technologies needed to address the cleanup challenges. The office must also establish an Incremental Technology Development Program to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the cleanup processes of the office. In carrying out the program, the office may provide grants for technology development, demonstration, and deployment projects to improve such technologies. Additionally, the office must establish a High-Impact Technology Development Program and a Fundamental Research Program to award grants to address cleanup challenges. The office must also establish the Environmental Management University Program and may provide research grants under the program.

EACH Act of 2021

Equal Access to Abortion Coverage in Health Insurance Act of 2021 or the EACH Act of 2021 This bill requires federal health care programs to provide coverage for abortion services and requires federal facilities to provide access to those services. The bill also permits qualified health plans to use funds attributable to premium tax credits and reduced cost sharing assistance to pay for abortion services.
