Maddy summaryThis bill requires New York's legislature to approve any extension or modification of pandemic-related executive orders issued by the governor. The bill allows continued enforcement of basic public health measures like face coverings and sanitation. It does not affect current health guidelines but mandates legislative review for future pandemic directives.
Maddy summaryThis bill provides free access to New York State parks and campsites for volunteer firefighters and volunteer ambulance service members. Specifically, it exempts these individuals from park fees when using public campsites, parks, or recreational areas, applying the same terms as the general public but without payment. The provision covers active volunteer firefighters (as defined in Section 215 of the General Municipal Law) and enrolled members of volunteer ambulance services (under Article 30 of the Public Health Law). It amends existing law to ensure these groups receive the same fee-free access already available to veterans, Gold Star families, and people with disabilities. The policy applies statewide across all relevant recreational facilities.
Maddy summaryThis bill allows volunteer firefighters to display blue lights and volunteer ambulance staff or mobile crisis team members to display green lights on their personal or work vehicles under specific conditions. It requires written authorization from a fire department chief or ambulance service leader, which can be revoked at any time. The lights may only be used during emergency operations, and their use is restricted to these designated personnel - no other vehicle owners may display them. The law takes effect immediately upon enactment.
