Designates a portion of the state highway system as the Steve Nicoli memorial highway

Maddy summaryThis bill designates a specific stretch of State Route 747 in Montgomery as the "Steve Nicoli Memorial Highway" to honor an individual. The legislation requires the Department of Transportation to install and maintain signs for this new name while clarifying that the change is ceremonial and will not alter the official route number. By adding a new section to the highway law, the bill ensures the memorial designation is recorded officially without disrupting commerce or causing confusion for drivers.

Grants retroactive tier IV membership in the New York city employees' retirement system to Ryan D. O'Connor

Maddy summaryThis bill grants Ryan D. O'Connor retroactive membership in the New York City Employees' Retirement System, allowing him to count his service from January 2012 toward his pension despite a delay in joining. The legislation applies specifically to O'Connor because he was unable to enroll during his employment with the New York City Transit Authority due to reasons not caused by his own negligence. If O'Connor submits a written request within one year of the bill's effective date, he will receive Tier IV status without having his existing contributions refunded. The City of New York will be responsible for covering all past service costs associated with implementing this change.

Increases the eligibility of admitted persons age 50 or older in general hospitals to receive immunizations against influenza virus

Maddy summaryThis bill requires general hospitals to offer flu shots to patients who are 50 years old or older during the annual flu season. It also mandates that these facilities provide pneumococcal vaccines to admitted patients aged 65 and above. To ensure compliance, hospitals must create specific policies for identifying eligible patients, informing them about the benefits of vaccination, and documenting all medical records related to these shots. The law includes a provision allowing the state health commissioner to temporarily waive these requirements if there is a shortage of vaccines.
