Maddy summaryThis bill allows New York State medical technologists to request special license plates displaying "Medical Technologist" below "New York State." To qualify, applicants must verify their current licensure annually and pay a $15 annual fee in addition to standard registration costs. The plates will only be issued if the DMV receives at least 200 applications (with the $15 fee) before production begins, avoiding a $6,000 surety bond requirement. All fees collected fund plate design and distribution through a dedicated state fund.

Maddy summaryThis bill establishes New York State's requirements for mental health counselors seeking licensure from other states. It allows out-of-state applicants to obtain a license if their home state's standards are similar to New York's, they demonstrate recent competency (through work or education), and have no disqualifying disciplinary history. The bill also creates a temporary "provisional license" enabling practice while completing final requirements, valid until a license is denied, expires, or terms are violated. It does not override existing reciprocity rules but clarifies the process for cross-state licensure.
Directs the department of health to conduct a study on opening three new veterans nursing homes in New York state; provides for the repeal of such provisions upon expiration thereof.
