Maddy summarySenate Bill S 7902 establishes new requirements for the sale, installation, and use of used automotive parts. It mandates that businesses, such as motor vehicle repair shops and vehicle dismantlers, maintain documentation for two years proving the lawful acquisition and transaction details of these parts. Failure to provide this documentation can result in fines, license suspension, or misdemeanor charges. For private sales, individuals selling used parts must provide identifying information, which the purchaser is then required to retain for two years. Franchised motor vehicle dealers are exempt from these provisions for vehicles sold under their represented brands.
