Relates to developing a database for missing domestic animals

Maddy summaryS 154 requires New York's Commissioner of Agriculture and Markets to create a searchable online database for lost and found domestic animals. The database will include animal type, name, photo, location (county), and other helpful details, while keeping owners' contact information private within the department. Pet owners and animal shelters will use this resource to reconnect missing pets, with the website also providing practical recovery tips like using microchips and avoiding scams. The database will be updated with public information and retain entries for three years. This bill directly affects New Yorkers who own pets or care for lost animals.

Relates to final determinations of custody and visitation

Maddy summaryThis bill sets a six-month deadline for courts to issue final custody and visitation orders after a case begins. It also requires permanency hearings for children in foster care to be completed within 30 days of scheduling, with specific timelines for different case types (e.g., children freed for adoption or returning to foster care). The law applies directly to families involved in custody disputes and foster care proceedings, as well as courts handling these cases. It aims to reduce delays by mandating concrete timeframes for final decisions, ensuring children’s living arrangements are resolved more quickly.
