Establishes a real property tax exemption for surviving spouses of police officers killed in the line of duty

Maddy summaryBill A 3729 would provide a 50% exemption from real property taxes on the primary residence of surviving spouses of police officers killed in the line of duty. Local governments would need to pass a law or resolution to implement this exemption, which applies to primary homes including certain cooperative housing arrangements. Eligibility requires proof the officer died while on duty, verified through documentation like death certificates or service records. This policy change directly affects surviving spouses of fallen officers by reducing their property tax burden.

Welcoming the members of the Fordham Preparatory School's Soccer Team to the Legislative Chambers on February 10, 2025, in recognition of winning the Catholic High School State Championship Title

Maddy summaryThis ceremonial resolution (K 98) formally welcomes the Fordham Preparatory School's soccer team to the New York State Capitol on February 10, 2025, to recognize their victory as Catholic High School Athletic Association State Champions. It specifically acknowledges their championship win, including their "treble" achievement of securing Archdiocese, City, and State titles for the first time in the school's 183-year history. As a symbolic gesture, this resolution does not create new laws or affect any policies - it solely serves to honor the team's athletic accomplishment.
