Relates to the use of smart access systems and the information that may be gathered from such systems

Maddy summaryThis bill limits how much personal data landlords can collect from tenants using smart access systems like keyless entry or biometric scanners. It requires owners to provide physical keys or digital keys at no cost to tenants and their guests, while also mandating backup power or alternative entry methods during outages. Additionally, the law restricts the types of data that can be gathered, prohibiting the installation of new systems that use biometric data for three years and banning the use of web-only applications for entry.
