Maddy summaryThis bill expands who can serve as judges in specialized youth courts. It allows superior court judges (who have specific training in juvenile justice) to preside over "youth parts" in each county, in addition to current family court judges. All judges in these youth parts must receive specialized training on juvenile justice, adolescent development, and treatment methods. The youth parts will handle all cases involving juvenile and adolescent offenders (ages 16-20), excluding certain cases covered elsewhere in the law.

Maddy summaryThis bill, the "Responsible AI Safety and Education Act" (RAISE Act), regulates large artificial intelligence (AI) developers who train or use "frontier models" - defined as models requiring over $100 million in computing costs or 10^26 computational operations. It directly affects commercial AI companies (excluding academic researchers) by requiring them to implement safety protocols, conduct risk testing, and report incidents like unauthorized model access or misuse. Key provisions mandate documented safety measures to prevent "critical harm" (defined as serious injury to 100+ people or $1 billion+ in property damage), with remedies for violations. The law also creates specific definitions for terms like "frontier model," "safety incident," and "knowledge distillation" (modified AI models), ensuring clarity for compliance.
Maddy summaryThis bill (K 780) is a ceremonial resolution requesting Governor Kathy Hochul to officially proclaim June 7, 2025, as "Belmont Stakes Day" in New York State. It directly affects the Governor (who would issue the proclamation) and the New York Racing Association (which would be commended for the 157th running of the Belmont Stakes). The resolution has no legal effect - it solely recognizes the historical significance of the Belmont Stakes, a key event in the Triple Crown of thoroughbred racing held at Belmont Park. It does not create new laws, allocate funds, or impose requirements.
