Requires businesses which provide for someone to spoof a telephone number to keep certain records

Maddy summaryThis bill requires businesses that enable phone number spoofing (displaying a fake caller ID) to keep detailed records of all calls using their services. Businesses must document the fake number shown to recipients, the actual phone number or IP address used, and the call's time, date, and duration. It directly affects telecom and call service providers offering spoofing capabilities, not individual callers. The records will create a verifiable trail for law enforcement to trace spoofed calls when needed.

Relates to posting of private property

Maddy summaryThis bill allows property owners and renters to legally prevent unauthorized entry by marking their land with specific purple markings. Owners may paint vertical purple lines (8+ inches long, 3-5 feet high) on trees or posts up to 100 feet apart, or use marked posts (3-5.5 feet high, 36 feet apart), making the markings clearly visible. It requires agreement from all adjacent property owners before marking shared fences. The Agriculture Department must also run a public campaign explaining the marking rules.

Establishes a day of commemoration known as "October 7th Remembrance Day"

Maddy summaryThis bill (A 6049) adds "October 7th Remembrance Day" to New York State's official calendar of commemorative days, to be observed annually on October 7. It directly affects the state's official observance schedule but does not create new policies, funding, or requirements for individuals or organizations. The bill amends existing law by inserting this date into a list of established commemorative days (like Holocaust Remembrance Day or Juneteenth), with no additional provisions or mechanisms. As a procedural naming bill, it has no direct impact on citizens or government operations beyond formal recognition.

Enacts the "rebuild our schools act"

Maddy summaryThis bill creates a new funding formula to help high-need school districts in specific counties address capacity shortages (like overcrowded classrooms). It directly affects districts with populations between 940,000-1 million residents (per 2010 census) that have voter-approved building projects since July 2021. The key mechanism replaces standard funding calculations with a special "high-need secondary supplemental building aid ratio," which boosts aid based on existing rates but caps it at a calculated maximum. This ensures districts with at least 10% capacity shortages receive enhanced funding for construction or repairs.
