Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion's deployment

Maddy summaryThis is a symbolic resolution (not a law) honoring the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, an all-Black, all-female unit deployed to Europe during WWII. It commemorates their 80th anniversary of deployment, recognizing their critical role in clearing a massive mail backlog for U.S. troops and their historic breakthroughs against racial and gender barriers in the military. The resolution has no policy impact - it simply expresses the legislature’s recognition of the battalion’s service and legacy.

Relates to the use of property in a land bank for community gardens

Maddy summaryThis bill allows local land banks to create a specific priority list for how they use vacant properties, placing community gardens at the top of that list alongside public spaces. It gives local governments the authority to rank potential uses for these properties, such as affordable housing or commercial activities, in a specific order. By amending existing state law, the measure ensures that community gardening is formally recognized as a primary option when managing foreclosed land. The change applies immediately to any land bank established under the new rules.
