Maddy summaryThis bill requires courts to review specific records before awarding child custody during protection orders in family court cases. It mandates checks of the sex offender registry, statewide protection order database, related court decisions, and warrants. The law directly affects courts, parents seeking custody, and children involved in custody disputes where protection orders are active. It repeals an outdated provision about these reviews while adding new requirements for court reviews. The change ensures courts consider relevant safety information when making custody decisions in these sensitive cases.
