Maddy summaryThis is a ceremonial resolution (not a law) honoring Bob Poor for 70 years of service with the Rensselaer Falls Fire and Rescue Department. It formally recognizes his dedication, including roles like Chief and Firefighter of the Year, and directs the legislature to honor him at a March 2025 banquet. The resolution has no policy impact - it simply sends a copy of the resolution to Mr. Poor. It affects only the honoree, Bob Poor, and serves as a symbolic tribute to his service.

Terminates the provisions of Executive Order number 47.3

Maddy summaryThis bill (C 241) terminates Executive Order 47.3, which had suspended certain laws to ban state employment for individuals separated from the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision due to participation in an "illegal and unlawful strike." The order prohibited state agencies from hiring or promoting such individuals and required background checks for applicants with that employment history. The resolution ends these temporary restrictions, restoring the original Civil Service Law and related provisions. It directly affects former Corrections employees who were separated from their positions over strike participation.

Authorizes regional planning council's eligibility for federal and/or state grants

Maddy summaryThis bill allows local municipalities to form regional planning councils that can apply for federal and state grants. Under the new rules, these councils are officially recognized as government agencies, which removes previous barriers to receiving funding. Local governments must pass a resolution to agree on the terms of their collaboration before the council can seek these funds. The changes take effect roughly nine months after the law is signed.

Requires motor vehicle dealer franchisors to fully compensate franchised motor vehicle dealers for warranty service agreements

Maddy summaryThis bill requires motor vehicle dealerships to receive full and fair payment from their franchisors for all warranty-related work, including repairs, diagnostics, and parts. It mandates that payments for approved claims be made within thirty days and sets a specific method for calculating compensation based on the rates dealers charge their own customers for similar non-warranty services. The law also establishes a process for dealers to declare their reimbursement rates and limits exclusions to items like wholesale parts, tires, and routine maintenance. By defining "reasonable compensation" and outlining dispute resolution steps, the bill aims to ensure dealers are not underpaid for services performed under manufacturer warranties.
