Relates to farm worker meal and lodging minimum wage credits

Maddy summaryThis bill adjusts minimum wage credits for farm workers who receive meal, lodging, or utility benefits. It requires the department to update these credit amounts annually based on cost-of-living increases, using a standardized calculator. The first update must be published by December 1, 2025, with subsequent updates every five years. These changes directly affect farm workers receiving in-kind benefits, ensuring their credits keep pace with inflation. The policy modifies existing wage credit calculations without creating new benefits or altering eligibility.

Relates to disability benefits for pregnancy loss

Maddy summaryBill A 8393 amends the workers' compensation law to explicitly include "pregnancy loss" within the definition of a disability related to pregnancy. This change means that employees experiencing pregnancy loss would be eligible for disability benefits. The bill also establishes a specific calculation for these benefits, setting them at sixty-seven percent of the employee's average weekly wage, capped at sixty-seven percent of the state average weekly wage. This differs from the general benefit calculation for other disabilities.

Increases distributions for problem gambling education and treatment purposes

Maddy summaryThis bill increases annual funding for problem gambling education and treatment programs from $6 million to $12 million, starting in fiscal year 2025. The funds come from 1% of mobile sports wagering tax revenue collected by the state commission. The change directly affects state-funded gambling treatment programs and the commission responsible for distributing the funds, while a separate $5 million allocation continues for youth sports programs. The policy change is a specific financial adjustment to existing tax revenue distribution rules.
