RELATING TO THE BOARD OF DENTISTRY AND DENTAL HYGIENE.

Amends the composition of the Board of Dental Examiners to add an additional dental hygienist member and specify that two hygienist members shall reside in the City and County of Honolulu and one shall reside in the County of Hawaii, Maui, or Kauai. (SB371 HD1)

RELATING TO AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMS.

Establishes the R.E.A.C.H (Resources for Enrichment, Athletics, Culture, and Health) Program in the Department of Education (DOE) to provide a standardized framework and funding for after-school programs in public middle and intermediate schools. Requires the DOE to submit a report to the Legislature. Establishes the R.E.A.C.H. Special Fund to supplement the costs of administering and operating the R.E.A.C.H. Program. (SB500 HD1)

RELATING TO HEALTH INSURANCE.

Requires all health insurers, including health benefits plans under chapter 87A, HRS, to disclose on, or have accessible through, their public web sites any medical policies used for making preauthorization decisions. (SB287 HD1)

RELATING TO SCHOOL-BASED HEALTH SERVICES.

Formally establishes the Hawaii Keiki: Healthy and Ready to Learn program and special fund within the Department of Education. Appropriates funds for positions and a vision screening and eye assessment tool, and to implement, expand, and sustain the program. (SB510 HD2)

RELATING TO KUPUNA CARE.

Requires the executive office on aging to establish the kupuna caregivers program, subject to available funds, to assist community members in obtaining care for elders while remaining in the workforce. Makes establishment of the kupuna care program mandatory, subject to available funds. Clarifies the kupuna service and support options provided by area agencies on aging within the kupuna care program. Appropriates funds for establishing and implementing the kupuna caregivers program. RELATING TO PUBLIC SAFETY.

Requires the Department of Public Safety in collaboration with county and state agencies and, upon request of the inmate, to issue civil identification cards to the inmate and to assist the inmate in obtaining the inmate's birth certificate, social security card, and other relevant identification necessary for successful reentry into society.
