RELATING TO DOGS.

Maddy summarySB 301 creates a new penalty for dog owners whose dogs cause property damage on land zoned for agricultural use. It directly affects dog owners who allow their pets to destroy agricultural property, adding an extra financial or legal consequence beyond existing rules. The bill would take effect on July 1, 3000, though this date appears to be an error given current legislative timelines. The bill is currently pending committee review, having been introduced on January 15, 2025, and scheduled for a public hearing on February 6, 2025.

RELATING TO ELECTRIC UTILITIES.

Requires the Public Utilities Commission to consider whether approving a proposed merger or acquisition would or would not further the State's renewable energy goals. Requires the electric utility to submit acceptable bids from a potential acquiring entity operating under a non-investor-owned utility ownership model concurrently with an application by a potential acquiring entity that is an investor-owned utility and the Public Utilities Commission to review those applications concurrently.
