RELATING TO PRESERVING CORAL REEFS.

RELATING TO RENEWABLE ENERGY.

Replaces the current renewable energy technology systems tax credit with tax credits for solar or wind energy property and energy storage property and is applicable to taxable years beginning after 12/31/2017. RELATING TO THE TRANSIENT ACCOMMODATIONS TAX.

Allocates funds from transient accommodations tax revenues to the Hawaii Tourism Authority in conjunction with the Hawaii Lodging and Tourism Association for the implementation of initiatives to address homelessness in tourist and resort areas. (SB1290 HD2)

RELATING TO SCHOOL IMPACT FEES.

Exempts the following from school impact fee requirements: housing developments reserved for persons or families with incomes up to 80 percent of the area median income located in a county having a population greater than 500,000; state or federal public housing projects; state low-income housing projects; housing projects certified or approved for a general excise tax exemption under section 201H-36, Hawaii Revised Statutes (HRS); and government housing projects and projects processed pursuant to sections 46-15.1 and 201H-38, HRS. RELATING TO AN AIRPORT CORPORATION.

Authorizes the establishment of the Hawaii Airport Corporation within the Department of Transportation for administrative purposes on July 1, 2018. Sets out appointment of members to the board of directors and powers and duties of the Hawaii Airport Corporation. Transfers the aeronautics functions of the Department of Transportation to the Hawaii Airport Authority. (SB658 HD2)

RELATING TO NATIVE HAWAIIAN HIGHER EDUCATION.

RELATING TO CHILD CARE FACILITIES.

Requires the Department of Human Services (DHS) to post on its website, reports of child care facility inspections beginning with inspections occurring on January 1, 2019, and suspected or actual complaint violations, including DHS's findings and corrective actions. Appropriates funds to implement and comply with the reporting requirements for child care facilities. (SB511 HD1)

RELATING TO THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII.

Requires the UH system to develop a 5- and 10-year campus master plan that includes academic and facilities plans. Establishes goals that the campus master plan should strive to achieve, and considerations to be integrated into the plan. (SB1040 HD1)

RELATING TO HUMAN SERVICES.

Requires Department of Human Services (DHS) registered or licensed child care facilities to: (1) Place any child less than a year old on the child's back to sleep; (2) Discuss the Safe Sleep Policy with the child's parent or legal guardian before the child is enrolled in the facility; (3) Complete training in safe sleep practices; and (4) Report the death of a child, employee, or household member, and any illness or injury received at the facility to DHS within one working day of occurrence.
