RELATING TO PEDESTRIAN SAFETY IN CROSSWALKS.

Requires the department of transportation to establish a policy that prioritizes improvements to crosswalks located in areas with frequent pedestrian injuries and fatalities and considers installing additional safety features.

RELATING TO FIREARMS.

Prohibits any person from distributing, transporting, importing, bringing, or causing to be brought into the State; keeping for sale, or offering or exposing for sale; or transferring, manufacturing, possessing, selling, bartering, trading, gifting, or acquiring any assault weapon. Defines assault weapon. Authorizes the courts to impose an extended term of imprisonment for an offender who uses an assault weapon in the course of committing certain crimes.

RELATING TO MINORS.

Grants a circuit court, when sentencing a minor for a criminal offense, greater discretion in sentencing if the victim of the crime for which the minor was convicted had trafficked or sexually assaulted the minor within one year before the minor committed the offense.

RELATING TO LITTER CONTROL.

Establishes a statewide anti-littering public education and awareness campaign to be administered by the Hawaii Tourism Authority. Authorizes the Hawaii Tourism Authority to enter into contracts and agreements relating to a statewide anti-littering public education and awareness campaign. Establishes a pilot program for the Hawaii Tourism Authority to assume management of the Department of Transportation's Adopt-A-Highway program in certain geographic areas. Appropriates funds.

RELATING TO EDUCATION.

Defines, for the purpose of compulsory education, a private school to be an education institution that teaches kindergarten through grade twelve and that is licensed or accredited by the Hawaii Association of Independent Schools or the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

RELATING TO ELECTIONS.

Requires candidates for President, Vice President, Governor, Lieutenant Governor, or Mayor to disclose their federal income tax returns to be listed on a general election ballot.
