RELATING TO EMPLOYEES.

Authorizes the expenditure of general funds for a one-time lump sum cash bonus severance benefit to affected Maui region hospital employees. Repeals chapter 89E, HRS, and Act 1, Second Special Session, Session Laws of Hawaii 2016, retroactively to 7/20/2016. (CD1)

RELATING TO EXEMPTIONS FROM REGISTRATION FEES.

Repeals the requirement that a disabled veteran be in receipt of disability retirement pay from the armed forces to be exempt from the payment of annual vehicle registration fees. (SB602 HD1)

RELATING TO RENEWABLE ENERGY.

Replaces the current renewable energy technology systems tax credit with tax credits for solar or wind energy property and energy storage property and is applicable to taxable years beginning after 12/31/2017. Establishes a demonstration project for building energy efficiency designs within the Department of Transportation. (SB665 HD1)

RELATING TO THE TRANSIENT ACCOMMODATIONS TAX.

Allocates funds from transient accommodations tax revenues to the Hawaii Tourism Authority in conjunction with the Hawaii Lodging and Tourism Association for the implementation of initiatives to address homelessness in tourist and resort areas. (SB1290 HD2)

RELATING TO SCHOOL IMPACT FEES.

Exempts the following from school impact fee requirements: housing developments reserved for persons or families with incomes up to 80 percent of the area median income located in a county having a population greater than 500,000; state or federal public housing projects; state low-income housing projects; housing projects certified or approved for a general excise tax exemption under section 201H-36, Hawaii Revised Statutes (HRS); and government housing projects and projects processed pursuant to sections 46-15.1 and 201H-38, HRS.
