Creates procedural and administrative requirements for law enforcement agencies for eyewitness identifications of suspects in criminal investigations. Requires the attorney general to establish procedures for the implementation of uniform statewide eyewitness identification procedures. Takes effect on 1/7/2059. (SD1)
Requires police departments to disclose to the Legislature the identity of an officer upon the officer's discharge or second suspension in a five-year period. Requires disclosure of certain information under the Uniform Information Practices Act after a police officer's second suspension in a five-year period. (SD1)
Increases the fines for violations of operating a vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant.
Requires all newly created, replaced, or reprinted state and county letterheads, documents, symbols, and emblems to include accurate, appropriate, and authentic Hawaiian names and language. Establishes references for accurate, appropriate, and authentic Hawaiian names and words, including proper Hawaiian spelling and punctuation. Effective 3/9/2092. (SD2)
Requires any report of a study or an audit enacted with a legislative appropriation and conducted by an executive department or agency, including the Hawaii health systems corporation, and by the legislative reference bureau, auditor, judiciary, or Office of Hawaiian Affairs, to be submitted to the senate president, speaker of the house, chairs of the appropriate subject matter committee of each house, and the legislative reference bureau library. Requires a public hearing or informational briefing within one year of receipt of report, except if extension granted to the hearing or briefing requirement by the senate president or speaker of the house of representatives or if the requirement is waived by the senate president or speaker of the house of representative. Requires that certain agencies be notified when a firearm permit application is denied because the applicant is prohibited from owning, possessing, receiving, or controlling a firearm under federal or state law. Requires the firearms permit issuing authority to notify the court that issued a protective or restraining order on an applicant, as applicable, upon notification of a permit denial. Requires the department of public safety to notify the probation or parole officer of an applicant, if applicable, upon notification of a permit denial. Takes effect 5/22/2050. (SD2)
