RELATING TO MEDIA LITERACY.

Authorizes school complexes to incorporate media literacy in its standards-based curriculum, including content that prevents negative impacts of misinformation, disinformation, digital discrimination, and online hate speech. RELATING TO AGRICULTURE.

RELATING TO ADVANCING CIVIC ENGAGEMENT.

Requires the public access room to establish and maintain an outreach and engagement program for primary, secondary, post-secondary, and community education. Requires the department of education and university of Hawaiʻi to assign appropriate staff to coordinate with the public access room for the outreach and engagement program. Appropriates funds for one full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) position to assist in effectuating this requirement. Effective 6/30/3000. (HD1)

RELATING TO SEXUAL VIOLENCE PREVENTION EDUCATION.

Establishes the Erin's law task force to review policies, programs, and curricula for educating public school students about sexual abuse and sex trafficking prevention, report recommendations for the establishment of a program to educate public school children on sexual abuse prevention through age-appropriate curricula, provide relevant training to teachers and school staff, and inform parents and guardians about important child sexual abuse topics. Requires the Department of Education to establish and implement a systemwide sexual abuse prevention education program at the conclusion of the task force.

RELATING TO THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION.

Establishes the shade and fruit tree program in the department of education to support educational activities and encourage propagation of native shade trees or fruit trees for planting in department schools. RELATING TO DEPOSIT BEVERAGE CONTAINERS.

Requires the department of health to establish a reverse vending machine pilot program to provide grants to deploy reverse vending machines in the State. Allows moneys from the deposit beverage container deposit special fund to be used for grants to deploy reverse vending machines. Effective 6/30/3000. (HD1)

RELATING TO KUPUNA HOUSING.

Temporarily expands the state rent supplement program to specifically target qualified individuals who are sixty-two years of age or older and are homeless or at imminent risk of becoming homeless.
