Expands the powers of the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board to include approving professional development courses and programs necessary for teacher reclassification. (HB245 HD1)
Expands eligibility for state-funded individual development accounts to households with income up to 100 percent of the area median income. Expands allowable uses of account funds for costs associated with rental housing, public transportation, and purchasing or repairing a motor vehicle. Clarifies reporting requirements for fiduciary organizations. Reactivates the tax credit for the five-year period from 2020 through 2024. Effective 7/1/2075. (SD1)
Clarifies that the existing health insurance mandate for coverage of low-dose mammography includes coverage for advancing methodologies of digital mammography and breast tomosynthesis. Sunsets June 30, 2024. (SD1)
Prohibits former legislators and executive branch employees subject to senate confirmation from engaging in lobbying for twelve months after termination of employment as a legislator or executive branch employee. Takes effect 7/1/2020. (SD1)
Establishes the Education Innovation Grants Program to support school-level innovation. Authorizes the Board of Education to adopt guiding principles and measures of success for the Grants Program and the Department of Education to implement the Grants Program. Establishes the Education Innovation Grants Special Fund. Makes appropriations. Takes effect 7/1/2050. (SD1)
Provides scholarships for the unmet direct cost needs of qualified students at any four-year University of Hawaii campus who meet certain eligibility criteria. Makes an appropriation for the Hawaii Promise Program. (HB1277 HD1)
