Maddy summaryHR 147 establishes a legislative working group to oversee how the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands uses funds from Act 279 (which appropriated $600 million to help native Hawaiian applicants secure homestead leases). The group, composed of seven state representatives, must submit progress reports to the House by specific deadlines before the 2026 and 2027 legislative sessions and will dissolve on January 1, 2027. This resolution continues oversight originally recommended by a prior working group, following the extension of the deadline for using Act 279 funds until 2026. It does not change policy but ensures transparency about the department’s use of these funds.

Effective 7/1/3000. (SD1)
Maddy summaryHCR 62 is a symbolic resolution requesting that Hawaii's Sheriff Division fly the National League of Families of American Prisoners and Missing in Southeast Asia's flag year-round at the State Capitol. This would change the current practice (where the flag is flown only on specific holidays per federal law) to maintain constant visibility. The resolution directly affects the Sheriff Division of the Department of Law Enforcement and the State Capitol's flag policy. It aims to honor the flag's recognition under U.S. Public Law 101-355, which designates it as a symbol for resolving the fates of U.S. military personnel missing in Southeast Asia.
Maddy summaryThis resolution requests Hawaii's Sheriff Division to fly the National League of Families of American Prisoners of War and Missing in Action (POW/MIA) flag year-round at the State Capitol. It does not create new laws but asks for a symbolic display following U.S. law (Public Law 101-355) that recognizes the flag as a symbol of commitment to resolving missing personnel cases from Southeast Asia. The request aligns with practices in other states that display the flag continuously. This is a procedural gesture focused on honoring military service, not a substantive policy change.
