Maddy summaryHB 1278 appropriates state funds to assess and remove hazardous trees on state lands across Hawaii. It directly affects Hawaii's state land management agencies, providing the necessary budget for these safety-related tree removal operations. The bill's key mechanism is the allocation of specific funding for tree assessment and removal, effective July 1, 2030 (note: "3000" in abstract appears to be a typo). This is a procedural funding measure, not a policy change, focused solely on enabling tree removal work on state property.

Maddy summaryThis House Resolution (HR 174) recognizes February 3 as "Topical Steroid Withdrawal Syndrome Awareness Day" in Hawaii. It does not create new laws or policies but formally acknowledges a condition caused by stopping topical steroid use, which can cause severe skin inflammation, prolonged recovery, and significant mental health impacts (including anxiety and suicidal ideation in some cases). The resolution aims to raise awareness about this syndrome, which affects individuals who have used topical steroids for skin conditions like eczema or psoriasis, though it does not mandate any specific actions or funding. It is a symbolic gesture to encourage broader education about the risks of topical steroid dependence.
