RELATING TO DOMESTIC VIOLENCE.

Streamlines the reporting requirements of the Department of Human Services (DHS)and the family courts to require DHS, upon direction of the court, to provide the family court with an oral or written report regarding the safety of a minor child of the parties on or prior to the next regularly scheduled court hearing. Provides that if DHS provides a written report, the DHS need not appear at the hearing unless ordered to do so. Requires the court to provide copies of all written reports to the parties. RELATING TO MEDICAL COVERAGE FOR FIREFIGHTERS.

Improves access for firefighters to comprehensive medical coverage and service-connected disability retirement benefits upon diagnosis with or death from cancer that is presumed to arise out of and in the course of employment. Effective 7/1/2050. (SD1)

RELATING TO THE CREATIVE MEDIA INDUSTRY.

Establishes the Hawaii Creative Industries Advisory Group while retaining the Film Industry Branch and Creative Industries Division of DBEDT. Repeals the Hawaii Television and Film Development Board along with the grant and venture capital programs that were implemented by the Board. Renames the Hawaii Television and Film Development Special Fund as the Creative Media and Film Infrastructure Special Fund. Expands funding sources for the Creative Media and Film Infrastructure Special Fund to support creative industries development within DBEDT. Amends the purposes for which the Creative Media and Film Infrastructure Special Fund may be used. Provides general excise and use tax exemptions for operations and improvements of the Hawaii Film Studio. Requires the University of Hawaii and DBEDT to report to the legislature. Makes an appropriation. Effective 7/1/2038. (SD1)

RELATING TO AGRICULTURAL FOOD PRODUCTION.

Appropriates funds for the University of Hawaii West Oahu to expand its existing programs and develop new means to increase food security and self-sufficiency in the State. (SD1)

RELATING TO LANDSCAPING.

Requires the department of agriculture, in consultation with the department of health, to create and maintain a list of plants and landscaping-related structures or equipment that are known to be preferred habitats for mosquito breeding and prohibits use of these elements in public landscaping. Exempts routinely maintained botanical gardens. Effective 7/1/2050. (SD1)

RELATING TO PUBLIC SAFETY.

Requires police departments to disclose to the Legislature the identity of an officer upon the officer's second suspension in a five-year period or discharge. Requires disclosure under the Uniform Information Practices Act after a police officer's second suspension in a five-year period. (HB456 HD1)
