RELATING TO THE HAWAII LEGAL AID INTERAGENCY ROUNDTABLE.

Establishes the Hawaii Legal Aid Interagency Roundtable to facilitate cooperation between various state agencies regarding civil legal services and access to justice. Requires the roundtable to report to the Governor and Legislature. Appropriates funds to DHS for the Roundtable. (HB2586 HD1)

RELATING TO TRANSPARENCY.

Requires a newspaper to disclose the aggregate amount spent by a candidate on advertisements with the newspaper in the election year when a newspaper chooses to endorse a candidate. (HB2015 HD1)

RELATING TO CHILD VISITATION.

Adds as prerequisites to awarding visitation that the court finds that awarding visitation to grandparent is in the best interest of the child and that denial of reasonable grandparent visitation rights would cause significant harm to the child. Clarifies procedures for awarding visitation. Deletes duplicative provision of awarding grandparents reasonable visitation rights. (HB163 HD1)

RELATING TO PRESCRIPTION DRUGS.

Requires every pharmacy to accept for disposal the return of any unused, remaining, or expired prescription drug that the pharmacy previously dispensed. (HB2125 HD1)

RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLE INSPECTIONS.

Requires a two-year motor vehicle inspection safety check for vehicles six years of age or newer. Doubles the inspection fee for the two-year motor vehicle inspection safety check. (HB1758 HD1)

RELATING TO DOMESTIC VIOLENCE.

Provides that funds received from the federal government for the purpose of addressing domestic violence and moneys from the Emergency Medical Services Special Fund shall not be distributed to a law enforcement agency or emergency medical services agency whose policies, procedures, and training for personnel and supervisors do not formally require lethality assessments and safety planning with victims of domestic violence. Takes effect 7/1/3000. (HB2135 HD1)
