Requires certain employers to provide a minimum amount of paid sick leave to employees to be used to care for themselves or a family member who is ill or needs medical care and supplemental paid sick leave to employees under certain public health emergency conditions.
Provides employed individuals with up to 8 weeks of paid family leave during the 1st year after birth of the individual's child, adoption of a child by the individual, or placement of a child with the individual through foster care, and 8 weeks of paid family leave to care for the individual's family member having a serious health condition during any benefit year, paid through an employer-based private insurance program currently used to provide for temporary disability benefits. Specifies that private employers having fewer than 200 employees shall not be required to provide family leave and family leave benefits. Repeals chapter 398, HRS. Appropriates funds to the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations. Sections 1-28 effective 7/1/2025.
Prohibits the public carry of firearms in sensitive places and upon private business establishment or charitable establishment premises, except under certain circumstances.
Prohibits concealed firearms in certain sensitive locations. Requires the department of the attorney general to publish an annual report on licenses to carry. Amends requirements for firearm permitting and licenses to carry firearms. Effective 7/1/2050.
Establishes a five-year pilot program in the department of health to expand existing county programs that make one or more mental health professionals available to assist county first responders in responding to mental health crises in areas in the urban core with high rates of homelessness. Requires a report to the legislature. Appropriates funds.
Phases out parking of motor vehicles on the grounds of Iolani Palace. Requires DAGS to remove the blacktop, parking area, and parking meters adjacent to Iolani Palace. Requires DLNR to develop and maintain a pedestrian area adjacent to Iolani Palace. Requires DAGS and DLNR to report cost analysis to the legislature.
Makes the president of the University of Hawaii system and the superintendent of the department of education, or their designees, voting members of the stadium authority.
