Requires the department of education to fully implement the farm to school program and farm to school meals program by the 20242025 school year. Provides that complex area superintendents have the authority to implement the farm to school and farm to school meals programs. Requires certain school cafeteria supervisors to report directly to complex area superintendents. Establishes school cafeteria supervisor positions. Establishes a GET exemption for the gross proceeds from the sale of machinery, fuel, chemicals, seed, huli, animals, or feed to a qualified farmer and directly related to the qualified farmer's kalo farming operations. Effective 6/30/3000. (HD1)
Beginning with the 2024-2025 school year, requires the department of education to include financial literacy in the personal transition plan requirement for each student. Lengthens the time period in which certain vehicles must have a safety inspection.
Appropriates funds to the department of the attorney general to collect data and conduct a study on how to reduce criminal activity in Waikiki.
Establishes a task force to review and recommend specific actions to ensure that Hawaiʻi's food imports are sourced, transported, stored, and distributed in compliance with the federal Food Safety Modernization Act, and develop specific recommendations to ensure that all foods and brands imported into Hawaiʻi do not mislead or confuse the public.
Updates the State's integrated solid waste management goals and priorities to include organic waste diversion. Requires the counties to incorporate organic waste diversion into their respective integrated solid waste management plan. Effective 6/30/3000. (HD1)
