Establishes and appropriates funds for one full-time equivalent (1.00 FTE) permanent veterinary medical officer position within the Department of Health. (HB2498 HD1)
Transfers to the Department of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism (DBEDT) jurisdiction over cable TV and the Broadband Assistance Advisory Council from the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs and telecommunications carriers from the Public Utilities Commission. Establishes the position of a commissioner of telecommunications. Creates special fund in DBEDT for cable TV and telecommunications carriers. Allows advanced practice registered nurses, physicians, dentists, psychologists, pharmacists, and social workers to receive tax credits for acting as preceptors in volunteer-based supervised clinical training rotations provided to eligible students that enable the students to obtain an eligible healthcare professional degree or certificate. Establishes the Preceptor Credit Assurance Committee to issue certificates to volunteer preceptors upon verifying that the volunteer preceptors meet the requirements of the tax credit. (HB1967 HD2)
Establishes a Hawaii Beach Preservation Special Fund. Authorizes the DLNR to expend moneys from the Special Fund to acquire lands for beach preservation with prior authorization of the Legislature. Creates a working group within the Hawaii Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Commission to determine appropriate funding mechanisms for the Special Fund. Establishes a three-year North Shore Oahu Pilot Program under DLNR to explore managed retreat options. Appropriates funds. (HB2468 HD2)
