HB 934: RELATING TO CRIME.

Allows a court to sentence a person convicted of a misdemeanor or petty misdemeanor offense to a term of imprisonment of 1 to 5 years, if the person has 10 or more prior convictions for a petty misdemeanor or higher grade of offense, subject to earlier release and alternative sentencing opportunities.

SB 1110: RELATING TO ACCESS TO TREATMENT FOR TERMINALLY ILL PATIENTS.

Permits manufacturers of investigational drugs or biological products beginning on January 1, 2018 to make these drugs and products available to terminally ill patients under certain conditions, including while pending participation in the federal expanded access program.

Appropriates funds as a grant to the Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center for operation of its twenty-four-hour emergency room. Requires funds necessary for the operation of Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center's twenty-four-hour emergency services to be included in the department of health's base budget beginning with the 2018-2019 fiscal year.

HB 1010: RELATING TO EMPLOYMENT.

Makes it unlawful for any employer to suspend, discharge, or discriminate against any of the employer's employees based on the individual's status as a registered qualifying patient under the Medical Use of Marijuana Law or an employee's positive drug test for marijuana components or metabolites if the employee is a registered qualifying patient under certain conditions.

SB 1131: RELATING TO WORKERS' COMPENSATION.

Requires building permit applicant and their subcontractors to have and verify workers' compensation coverage or an exemption from coverage. Requires coordinated communication between county building permitting agencies and the Director of the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations to ensure compliance.
