SB 434: RELATING TO RENEWABLE ENERGY.

Requires the governor, DBEDT, and the Hawaii state energy office to develop a strategic plan that outlines benchmarks to achieve a one hundred per cent renewable energy portfolio standard. Requires DBEDT to submit the strategic plan to the legislature no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the regular session of 2018.

HB 1280: RELATING TO ENERGY MODERNIZATION AT THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION.

Requires PUC to: (1) Study and determine a reasonable microgrid rate schedule, based on specified goals, that DOE may charge to users of its microgrid; (2) Study and determine a fair and reasonable amount that an electric utility company may assess DOE for using the electrical infrastructure of the electric utility company or any electricity produced by the electric utility company, if applicable; and (3) Establish oversight policies for any microgrid projects that DOE may establish that extend beyond lands and buildings owned and controlled by DOE. HB 841: RELATING TO SCHOOL IMPACT FEES.

Exempts certain affordable housing projects from the school-impact-fee requirement, including government affordable housing projects under sections 46-15.1 and 201H-38, Hawaii Revised Statutes. (HB841 HD1)

HB 1434: RELATING TO LABOR.

Requires employers of twenty-five or more food establishment workers to provide the workers with paid time off for illness, treatment, and preventive medical care of the worker and the worker's spouse, children, parents, and grandparents and for treatment arising from domestic violence or sexual assault. SB 162: RELATING TO AGRICULTURE.

Permits the acquisition of raw milk and raw milk products by consumers if certain conditions are met, including a label indicating that raw milk and raw milk products are not pasteurized and are only intended for consumption by pet animals. Requires farms and dairies that produce raw milk or raw milk products to register with the department of health. Takes effect 7/1/2050. (SD1)
