Torts; private right of action for damages suffered due to sexual harassment under certain circumstances; provide

A BILL to be entitled an Act to amend Chapter 1 of Title 51 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to general provisions for torts, so as to provide for a private right of action for damages suffered due to sexual harassment under certain circumstances; to provide a definition; to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

Employment security; change a definition; provisions

A BILL to be entitled an Act to amend Chapter 8 of Title 34 of the O.C.G.A., relating to employment security, so as to change a definition in order to provide that services performed by an individual for wages shall be deemed to be employment unless the Department of Labor makes a contrary determination based upon evidence submitted of certain factors demonstrating that such individual has been and will continue to be free from control or direction over the performance of such services; to provide that the Department of Labor shall maintain a web based system of notifying the department of employment that is improperly reported; to provide for investigation of reports of misclassification; to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

Ad valorem tax; property tax exemptions; allow certain nonprofit institutions to exempt certain buildings

A BILL to be entitled an Act to amend Part 1 of Article 2 of Chapter 5 of Title 48 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to property tax exemptions, so as to allow certain nonprofit charitable institutions to exempt buildings used for the primary or incidental purpose of securing income from property tax; to provide for procedures, conditions, and limitations; to provide for a referendum; to provide for a contingent effective date; to provide for automatic repeal under certain circumstances; to provide for applicability; to provide for compliance with constitutional requirements; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.
