Uniform Civil Forfeiture Procedure Act; require the conclusion of criminal proceedings prior to civil forfeiture proceedings

A BILL to be entitled an Act to amend Chapter 16 of Title 9 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to the "Uniform Civil Forfeiture Procedure Act," so as to require the conclusion of criminal proceedings prior to civil forfeiture proceedings; to provide for exceptions; to prohibit the outsourcing of forfeiture litigation to federal agencies as a circumvention to the forfeiture laws of this state; to provide for a definition; to amend Chapter 1 of Title 16 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to general provisions for crimes and offenses, so as to change provisions relating to restrictions on contingency fee compensation of an attorney appointed to represent the state in forfeiture actions; to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.
