Maddy summaryHR 6595 requires the Secretaries of Defense and Veterans Affairs to create action plans at military medical facilities and VA hospitals to improve veteran access to care. It directly affects enrolled veterans seeking care at DOD facilities identified as having available capacity.

Maddy summaryHCONRES 61 directs the President to withdraw U.S. military forces from hostilities against any terrorist organization designated by the president in the Western Hemisphere. This bill specifically applies to military operations involving U.S. armed forces in the region targeting such groups. The key provision requires the withdrawal unless Congress has passed a formal declaration of war or specific authorization for that military action. The resolution invokes Section 5(c) of the War Powers Resolution to compel this change in military deployment.
Maddy summaryThis bill requires TRICARE to cover fertility-related care, including in vitro fertilization (IVF), for active-duty military members and their dependents starting October 2027. It mandates up to three IVF cycles per year with single embryo transfers by default (unless medically necessary), eliminates cost-sharing barriers after an infertility diagnosis, and prohibits coverage for genetic screening, cloning, or artificial wombs. The law defines "infertility" based on medical guidelines and specifies covered treatments like egg/sperm retrieval, embryo preservation, and fertility medications. It does not apply to former service members or their dependents.
Essential Caregivers Act of 2025 This bill prohibits certain health care facilities from limiting the access of essential caregivers to residents of those facilities, including during designated emergency periods. Specifically, the bill generally prohibits Medicare skilled nursing facilities, Medicaid nursing facilities, Medicaid intermediate care facilities, and associated inpatient rehabilitation facilities from restricting the access of essential caregivers to residents of the facilities, including during emergency periods in which visitation rights are otherwise restricted. During emergency periods, facilities may restrict access for an initial period of up to seven days and for one additional maximum seven-day period (if the additional period is approved by the state health department). Facilities may restrict access for a total of 7 days (or 14 days with the approval of the state health department) during an emergency period. Essential caregivers must agree to comply with any safety protocols set by the facility, which may be no more stringent for caregivers compared to those for staff. Caregivers who fail to comply with these requirements may be denied access, subject to an appeals process.
Maddy summaryHR 6731, the "Restore Trust in Government Act," requires Members of Congress, the President/Vice President, and their spouses or dependent children to divest certain financial investments during federal service. It defines "covered investments" broadly (including stocks, commodities, and derivatives) but excludes Treasury bonds, municipal bonds, family farm interests, and some Alaska Native Settlement stock. Covered individuals must sell holdings within 90-180 days of taking office or enacting the law, with limited exceptions for qualified blind trusts or spouses’ occupational trading. Violations incur a 10% fee on the investment value and require returning profits, paid to the Treasury. Ethics offices enforce these rules, publish penalty details, and issue divestiture certificates.
Maddy summaryThe Protect America's Workforce Act cancels an executive order issued on March 27, 2025, that excluded certain groups from federal labor-management relations programs, making it legally unenforceable. It also ensures that all collective bargaining agreements between federal agencies and labor unions, which were active as of March 26, 2025, remain fully effective until their agreed terms expire. This directly affects federal agencies, labor unions, and the employees covered by these agreements. The bill prevents federal funds from being used to implement the canceled executive order while preserving existing labor agreements.
Miracle on Ice Congressional Gold Medal Act This act provides for the award of Congressional Gold Medals to the members of the 1980 U.S. Olympic men's ice hockey team in recognition of the team's achievement at the 1980 Winter Olympic Games.
Maddy summaryHR 6629 requires each military department (like the Army, Navy, and Air Force) to create detailed master plans for their service academies (West Point, Annapolis, etc.) by September 30, 2027. These plans must assess current infrastructure conditions, identify historic properties needing preservation, and evaluate risks like energy disruptions, extreme weather, and cybersecurity threats. The bill mandates specific actions: listing deteriorating infrastructure with a 5-year replacement/renovation plan, and including historic sites on the National Register or eligible for it. Military secretaries must brief Congress within 180 days of enactment and submit completed plans within 30 days of completion or by December 1, 2027, whichever comes first. This is a procedural requirement focused on infrastructure planning, not new funding or policy changes.
Maddy summaryThis bill prohibits the development of a golf course at the Greenbury Point Conservation Area within Naval Support Activity Annapolis in Maryland. It amends Section 2855 of the Military Construction Act for Fiscal Year 2024 to explicitly ban constructing a golf course there, replacing prior language about modifying public access. The key mechanism adds this specific prohibition to the military construction law, directly affecting development plans for the conservation area. The bill also maintains existing environmental restoration requirements for the area under current law.
Maddy summaryHR 6627, the "Improving the Enlisted to Officer Judge Advocate Program Act," modifies eligibility rules for enlisted service members seeking to become military lawyers (judge advocates). It increases the maximum years of service required for eligibility from 8 to 10 years for members receiving military funding for law school under specific provisions. The bill also updates technical references to align with the new funding structure. This directly affects enlisted personnel in the military legal career path who plan to attend law school using service-funded educational benefits. The change aims to provide more flexibility in career progression for those pursuing law degrees through military programs.
