Minority Health Month; Recognizing April 2024 as “Minority Health Month” in Florida and calling upon all Floridians to get routine cholesterol tests, etc.

Public Records/Dozier School for Boys and Okeechobee School Victim Compensation Program; Providing an exemption from public records requirements for the personal identifying information in an application submitted to the Department of Legal Affairs by, or on behalf of, a person seeking compensation through the Dozier School for Boys and Okeechobee School Victim Compensation Program; providing exceptions; providing for future legislative review and repeal of the exemption; providing a statement of public necessity, etc.

Dozier School for Boys and Okeechobee School Victim Compensation Program; Establishing the Dozier School for Boys and Okeechobee School Victim Compensation Program within the Department of Legal Affairs; requiring the department to accept and process applications for the payment of compensation claims under the program; requiring the department to provide specified notice of the program; requiring the department, subject to the appropriation of funds for that purpose, to pay a specified compensation amount to approved applicants, etc. APPROPRIATION: $20,000,000

FAMU Day; Designating February 21, 2024, as “FAMU Day” in Florida, etc.

Excusal from Jury Service; Requiring that a woman who has recently given birth be excused from certain jury service under specified conditions, etc.

Black History Month; Recognizing February 2024 as “Black History Month” in Florida, etc.

Support for the State of Israel; Expressing support for the State of Israel and condemning the attacks and hateful actions by the Hamas terrorist group, etc.

Sickle Cell Disease Medications, Treatment, and Screening; Requiring newborn and infant screening providers to notify primary care physicians of newborns and infants of certain screening results and to submit the results to the Department of Health for a specified purpose; requiring the department to contract with a certain center to establish and maintain a sickle cell registry; authorizing parents and guardians of children in the registry to request to have them removed from the registry; requiring the Agency for Health Care Administration, in consultation with certain entities, to review sickle cell disease medications, treatments, and services for Medicaid recipients and develop a written report, post the report on its website, and submit a copy of the report to the Governor, the Legislature, and certain entities by a specified date and every 2 years thereafter, etc. APPROPRIATION: $1,332,159

Blood Clot and Pulmonary Embolism Policy Workgroup; Citing this act as the “Emily Adkins Prevention Act”; requiring the Secretary of Health Care Administration, in conjunction with the State Surgeon General, to establish a blood clot and pulmonary embolism policy workgroup; requiring the secretary to submit a final report to the Governor and the Legislature by a specified date, etc.
