Continuing Education Requirements; Revising applicability of a certain provision relating to completion of a continuing education requirement for licensure renewal to exempt certain building code administrators and inspectors, etc.
Ad Valorem Taxation; Authorizing a taxpayer to rescind a homestead exemption application; requiring the property appraiser to adjust the tax roll; revising conditions under which property is entitled to a certain exemption; defining the term “religious activities”, etc.
Transportation Facility Designations/Harris Rosen Way and Geraldine Thompson Way; Providing honorary designations of certain transportation facilities in a specified county; directing the Department of Transportation to erect suitable markers, etc.
Children with Developmental Disabilities; Revising the scope of the Dr. and Mrs. Alfonse and Kathleen Cinotti Health Care Screening and Services Grant Program to allow grant funds to be used for screenings, referrals for treatment, and related services for autism; revising requirements for the annual grant application submitted by the Department of Health for the Early Steps Program to conform to changes made by the act; providing a purpose for the Early Steps Extended Option; authorizing the department to implement the Early Steps Extended Option regardless of certain federal funding; requiring the University of Florida Center for Autism and Neurodevelopment to fund specialized summer programs for children with autism spectrum disorder, etc. APPROPRIATION: $755,904
Children’s Medical Services Program; Transferring operation of the Children’s Medical Services Managed Care Plan from the Department of Health to the Agency for Health Care Administration, effective on a specified date; requiring the CMS program to conduct clinical eligibility screening for certain children and youth with special health care needs; revising the purposes and functions of the CMS program, etc.
State Land Management; Citing this act as the “State Park Preservation Act”; requiring public hearings for all updated conservation and nonconservation land management plans; requiring the Division of Recreation and Parks of the Department of Environmental Protection to comply with specified provisions when granting certain privileges, leases, concessions, and permits; requiring that individual management plans for parcels located within state parks be developed and updated with input from an advisory group, etc.
Firefighter Health and Safety; Requiring the Division of State Fire Marshal within the Department of Financial Services to assist in decreasing the frequency and severity of fatalities; authorizing the division to recommend a phased approach in adopting certain rules related to firefighting gear; requiring the division to adopt rules relating to education on chemical hazards and toxic substances in protective gear and employers’ mental health best practices, etc.
Newborn Screenings; Subject to legislative appropriation and beginning on a specified date, requiring that the Department of Health’s rules require that newborns be screened for Duchenne muscular dystrophy at the appropriate age, etc.
Disability History and Awareness Instruction; Citing this act as the "Evin B. Hartsell Act"; requiring the Department of Education to develop specified curricula; authorizing the department to consult with the Evin B. Hartsell Foundation to further develop such curricula, etc.
