Preemption of the Regulation of Tobacco and Nicotine Products; Repealing provisions relating to preemption of the regulation of tobacco and nicotine products, respectively, etc.
Designation of the State Bird; Designating the Florida scrub-jay as the official state bird; specifying that the act supersedes designation of the mockingbird as the state bird, etc.
Menstrual Hygiene Products in Public Schools; Citing this act as the “Learning with Dignity Act"; defining the term “menstrual hygiene products”; requiring school districts to make menstrual hygiene products available, at no charge, in certain schools within the district and in certain locations within such schools; requiring schools to notify students of the availability and locations of such products; encouraging school districts to partner with specified organizations to meet certain requirements, etc.
Homestead Exemption for First Responders; Exempting from ad valorem taxation the homestead property of the surviving spouse of a first responder who dies in the line of duty while employed by the United States Government; expanding the definition of “first responder” to include certain federal law enforcement officers; providing applicability, etc.
Saltwater Intrusion Vulnerability Assessments; Authorizing the Department of Environmental Protection to provide grants to coastal counties for saltwater intrusion vulnerability assessments; requiring the department to update the comprehensive statewide flood vulnerability and sea level rise data set and make certain information received from the saltwater intrusion vulnerability assessments available on its website; requiring the department to provide cost-share funding up to a specified amount for awarded grants, etc.
Public Records/Buyer or Transferee of Ammunition; Providing an exemption from public records requirements for records containing certain information pertaining to a buyer or transferee who is not found to be prohibited from receipt or transfer of ammunition; providing for future legislative review and repeal of the exemption; providing for the reversion of specified statutory text unless certain conditions are met; providing a statement of public necessity, etc.
Solutions for Mental Health Professional Shortages; Establishing a mental health profession scholarship and loan forgiveness program within the Department of Health for a specified purpose; providing for applicant eligibility and the award of scholarships; providing for repayment of scholarship funds if the program requirements are not fully satisfied; providing that the program’s implementation is contingent on specific funding, etc.
Crimes Evidencing Prejudice; Expanding grounds for the reclassification of crimes to include acts of prejudice based on the gender or gender identity of any person; specifying that the reclassification must occur if the crime was based in whole or in part on the race, color, ancestry, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, national origin, homeless status, advanced age, gender, or gender identity of any person; specifying that the reclassification of a certain crime must occur if the crime was based in whole or in part on a disability of any person, etc.
Sale or Transfer of Ammunition; Citing this act as "Jamie's Law"; requiring background checks for the sale or transfer of ammunition; providing exceptions, etc.
