Educational Property Tax Exemption; Exempting land and real property improvements used exclusively for educational purposes from ad valorem taxes if certain criteria are met; providing that the educational institution shall receive the full benefit from the exemption, etc.
Cost-of-living Adjustment for Special Risk Class Retirees; Revising the manner of calculating the cost-of-living factor for Special Risk Class retirees, and their beneficiaries, who meet certain criteria; revising required employer contribution rates for the Special Risk Class and the Deferred Retirement Option Program in the Florida Retirement System to fund benefit changes made by the act, etc.
Verification of Employment Eligibility; Requiring public employers, contractors, and subcontractors to register with and use the E-Verify system; prohibiting such entities from entering into a contract unless each party to the contract registers with and uses the E-Verify system; requiring private employers to verify the employment eligibility of newly hired employees, beginning on a specified date; providing acceptable methods for verifying employment eligibility, etc.
Employment Conditions; Prohibiting a political subdivision from establishing, mandating, or otherwise requiring an employer to offer conditions of employment which are not otherwise required by state or federal law; specifying that the regulation of conditions of employment is expressly preempted to the state, etc.
Acquisition of Certain Professional Services; Providing that the Consultants’ Competitive Negotiation Act may not be construed to prevent cooperative purchasing between governmental agencies if certain criteria are met, etc.
Corporate Income Tax Credit; Defining the term “NAICS”; providing a credit against the corporate income tax, for a specified amount and for a specified taxable year, for taxpayers classified in the sales financing or passenger car rental or leasing industries which meet certain criteria, etc.
Cruelty to Dogs; Prohibiting a person from restraining a dog outside and unattended during a natural disaster; providing a criminal penalty; providing a fine, etc.
Social Media Websites; Citing this act as the "Stop Social Media Censorship Act"; providing that the owner or operator of a social media website is subject to a private right of action by a social media website user in this state under certain conditions; prohibiting a social media website from using hate speech as a defense; authorizing the Attorney General to bring an action on behalf of a social media website user; providing exceptions for the deletion or censure of certain types of speech, etc.
Voter Registration Maintenance; Requiring supervisors of elections to enter into agreements with clerks of the circuit courts to receive specified information; requiring the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles to furnish monthly to the Department of State a list of persons who identified themselves as aliens; requiring the Department of State to compare the list with the statewide voter registration system and provide the names of registered voters who are aliens to the supervisors of elections of the counties in which the voters are registered, etc.
Cardiac Screening for Newborns; Revising components that are included in the postpartum evaluation and followup care required to be provided by birth centers to include a cardiac screening of the newborn; requiring hospitals that provide birthing services to provide a postpartum evaluation that includes the cardiovascular screening of each newborn, etc.
