Relief/Barney Brown/State of Florida; Provides appropriation from State of Florida to compensate Barney Brown for wrongful incarceration; provides that act does not waive certain defenses or increase state's liability; provides appropriation satisfies all present & future claims; prohibits award of additional amounts for fees, costs, & other expenses. Release of Adoption Information; Authorizes only one avenue for disclosure of certain adoption related records without court order; removes authorization for certain adoption related records to be disclosed without court order; authorizes court to break seal of specified birth records upon request of certain persons under certain conditions.
Death Penalty; Repeals provisions providing for death penalty for capital felonies and associated provisions.
Apportionment of State Legislative Districts; Proposes amendment to Section 16 of Article III of State Constitution to revise number of senatorial & representative districts that Legislature is authorized to apportion.
Legislation by Initiative; Proposes amendment to State Constitution to allow proposal & approval of laws by initiative without legislative or gubernatorial approval; prescribes requirements for such initiatives; requires extraordinary vote of Legislature to amend or repeal laws approved by voters; provides for Supreme Court review of initiative petitions; & requires ballot statements for such initiatives to include statement of economic impact.
Relief/Rafael Rodriguez/Hendry County Hospital Authority; Provides for appropriation to compensate Rafael Rodriguez for injuries sustained as result of negligence of employees of Hendry County Hospital Authority; provides limitation on compensation & the payment of attorney fees. CLAIM: $7,500,000
Assault Weapons and Large-capacity Magazines; Prohibits sale, transfer, or possession of assault weapon or large-capacity magazine; requires certificates of possession for assault weapons or large-capacity magazines lawfully possessed before specified date; limits sales or transfers of assault weapons or large-capacity magazines documented by such certificates; provides enhanced penalties for offenses committed with assault weapon or large-capacity magazine.
