Maddy summaryThis bill, titled the Territorial Protection and Sovereignty Act, ends the Temporary Protected Status program for individuals currently holding that status in the United States. It requires that any existing status grants terminate immediately upon the law's enactment. Affected individuals must depart the country within 60 days of the bill becoming effective to avoid being classified as unlawfully present. The legislation removes the specific legal protections previously established under Section 244 of the Immigration and Nationality Act.

Equal Representation Act This bill requires that the statement sent by the President to Congress after the decennial census indicating the number of persons in each state exclude noncitizens. (This statement is the basis for reapportionment of U.S. Representatives.) The bill also requires any questionnaire used in the decennial census to include a checkbox or other similar option for respondents to indicate whether the respondent and each household member is (1) a U.S. citizen, (2) a U.S. national but not a citizen, (3) a non-U.S. national ( alien under federal law) lawfully residing in the United States, or (4) a non-U.S. national unlawfully residing in the United States. The Department of Commerce must make public the number of persons in each state, disaggregated by each of these four categories.
Maddy summaryThis bill restricts immigration and naturalization by adding new grounds for inadmissibility and deportation based on membership in or advocacy for specific political ideologies, including socialism, communism, Chinese communism, Marxism, and Islamic fundamentalism. It directly affects foreign nationals and permanent residents by making them ineligible for entry or citizenship if they have affiliated with or promoted these ideologies, with exceptions only for advocacy that occurred before age 14. The law defines these ideologies in detail and designates specific organizations as examples of each category, while also prohibiting court review of determinations made under these provisions. Additionally, the bill expands the grounds for revoking naturalized citizenship and requires the Attorney General to issue regulations implementing these changes.
Maddy summaryThe Equal Treatment for Farmers Act removes references to 'socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers' from multiple federal agricultural laws and programs. This bill amends various statutes including the Federal Crop Insurance Act, Consolidated Farm and Rural Development Act, and other agricultural legislation to eliminate special preferences or categories based on social disadvantage status. The legislation also prohibits the USDA from providing any preference, priority consideration, or enhanced benefits based on race or gender in its programs. These changes affect how federal agricultural assistance, loans, and benefits are categorized and distributed to farmers and ranchers.
Maddy summaryThis bill directs the U.S. Treasury Department to designate the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist, which would block all U.S. assets belonging to CAIR and its affiliates and prohibit Americans from engaging in any financial transactions with the organization. The legislation also requires the Treasury Secretary to suspend CAIR's tax-exempt status under federal law. These actions are based on provisions in Executive Order 13224 that allow the government to restrict support for designated terrorist organizations. The bill includes a requirement for federal agencies to submit a detailed report to Congress within 30 days explaining the legal criteria used to justify the designation.
Maddy summaryThis bill amends Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to clarify that protections against sex discrimination do not extend to gender identity. It directly affects employers, employees, and individuals involved in workplace discrimination claims by explicitly excluding gender identity from the definition of sex-based discrimination. The key provision is a rule of construction that interprets existing federal law in a specific way, rather than creating new protections or restrictions. This change would limit the scope of federal sex discrimination claims to biological sex rather than including gender identity as a protected category.
Maddy summaryThis bill creates a publicly accessible database to track private vendors that supply, support, or maintain components of election systems used in federal elections. It requires states and local election officials to submit information about these vendors within 30 days after each federal election, including vendor identity, contract terms, and ownership details such as parent companies and foreign interests. The legislation prohibits federal funding for election administration in any state that fails to comply with these reporting requirements. The database aims to increase transparency by making vendor information available to the public, with provisions to withhold certain details for security reasons. These changes would take effect for federal elections held in 2026 and subsequent years.
Maddy summaryThis bill authorizes the President to award the Medal of Honor to Marine James Capers, Jr., for his acts of valor during the Vietnam War on March 31-April 3, 1967. It directly affects Capers, who previously received the Silver Star for these actions but had not been awarded the Medal of Honor due to time limitations. The bill bypasses standard time restrictions under U.S. Code that typically prevent retroactive Medal of Honor awards. This is a non-procedural policy change that formally enables the award to be granted for specific historical military service.
Maddy summaryThe ISLET Act amends federal regulations to allow the use of human cadaveric islets for transplantation without classifying them as drugs or biological products. This change directly affects patients with diabetes who may receive islet cell transplants and the healthcare providers who administer these procedures. The bill requires the Secretary of Health and Human Services to update existing regulations within one year and submit a progress report to Congress within six months. By removing islets from drug and biological product categories, the legislation aims to streamline regulatory oversight for this specific type of medical treatment.
Maddy summaryHR 556, the Protecting Access for Hunters and Anglers Act, prevents federal agencies from banning lead ammunition or tackle on public lands and waters managed for hunting or fishing. It directly affects hunters and anglers using federal lands (like national wildlife refuges, public forests, and BLM lands) by blocking nationwide restrictions on lead products. The bill allows limited exceptions only for specific locations where wildlife decline is directly linked to lead use, and the restriction must align with state law or get approval from the state wildlife agency. This changes how federal land managers can regulate lead, requiring state coordination for any local restrictions.
