Providing protection of personal information of certain attorneys

This bill, SB 965, creates a new law (§5A-8-21a) allowing current or retired district attorneys, assistant district attorneys, and district attorney investigators (referred to as "protected individuals") to request that their personal information be withheld from public disclosure by government bodies or third parties. The bill explicitly states that this protection does not apply to personal information already publicly posted by the Office of the Secretary of State. The law takes effect on July 1, 2026.
